Summer Camp
Adventures Abound
For All Scouts
At Camp Tuckahoe
Most
boys join Scouting to go camping. That was true in 1910 when
Scouting began in the US and it's still true today. Whether
you're a brand-new Cub Scout or an experienced Boy Scout camper, the
magic of Scouting is best found in its outdoor programs.
Just a short drive away in nearby
Dillsburg, PA, the council's Camp Tuckahoe features great programs
for boys of all ages. Don't miss out on all of the terrific
program opportunities available this summer at Tuckahoe.
More Than Just A
Summer Camp,
Tuckahoe's A Year-Round Destination
Just because summer's over, there's no
reason not to get your Scouts to camp when there's a camp like
Tuckahoe waiting for you and your boys. Whether it's spring,
summer, winter or fall, Tuckahoe provides the ideal setting for
Scouting's outdoor programs.
Eight well-equipped cabins available
for rental provide Camp Tuckahoe with indoor sleeping accommodations
for 250 campers. Beautiful wooded campsites, miles of hiking
trails, and picturesque lake create a magnificent outdoor
environment for Scout units, youth groups and conferences.
Many non-Scout groups take advantage of Tuckahoe's outstanding
facilities and wondrous setting for their own outdoor adventures.
Tree Thinning
Scheduled for Tuckahoe
To
ensure that Camp Tuckahoe remains safe for all campers and visitors,
a major tree thinning is planned for Camp Tuckahoe this fall and
winter. The Council has
hired a forest consultant to mark trees for removal that pose a
potential risk to campers and visitors.
Over the past few years, thousands of dollars have been spent
to remove hazardous limbs from the campsites but a substantial number of
hazardous trees continue to develop annually. Winter camp
operation will remain open during the tree thinning. No tree
thinning will occur during the weekends while campers are present.
Specific campsite availability will change each week as we clear
each campsite of hazards.
