a Cub Scout’s point of view, the Cub World at Camp Tuckahoe offers a wide
variety of outstanding programs and facilities designed just for him. During
summer camp sessions for Cub Scouts ages 6-10 and their parents, the Cub World
hosts most of the program areas campers will experience during their stay at
Tuckahoe.
Cub World is a camp-within-a-camp, creating a
special place just for Cub Scouts to enjoy. The Cub World was created as a
separate and distinct area of Tuckahoe away from Boy Scout programs areas.
While the Cub World is tucked away in its own corner of the camp, it is very
convenient to the dining hall, pool and campfire circle.
The
Cub World is also available year-round for packs to spend weekends at the Fort
or Castle, or simply enjoying a day trip to the Cub World.
Based on the best concepts developed nationally
over the past 10 years, the Cub World will provide our council with the tools
needed to attract more Cub Scout campers to Tuckahoe and retain them longer as
members.
Program Features

Frontier Fort - This
facility is a program area where Cub Scouts
can imagine themselves back in the old days of America's Western frontier.
Cub Scouts can stand guard in the fort's towers and survey the view from the
fort's elevated walkways. The
fort also is a year-round sleeping facility for up to 40
Scouts and leaders. The Frontier Fort has bunk beds with mattresses,
full kitchen with appliances, wood stove, indoor
rest rooms and showers to make your stay at camp more comfortable and enjoyable.

Medieval Castle
- Also created to help Cub Scouts imagine themselves back in a time they
have only seen on television or in movies, the castle takes today's Cub
Scouts back to the days of the King Arthur and the Knights of the
Roundtable. Colorful shields, wall hangings and a knight's armor help
create the mood. The interior of the castle is identical to these
facilities and equipment available in the Frontier Fort.

 Pirate
Ship - Cub Scouts can take a turn at the ship's wheel, take up
positions on the ship's three decks and gangway, or sleep in the ship’s
cargo hold during fair weather. Bunk beds with mattress pads can
accommodate up to 20 shipmates.

Native American Village
- Four large tepees each capable of sleeping 9 Scouts and leaders are the
centerpiece of this new area of camp.

Air Rifle, Target
Archery and Action Archery Ranges - No more make-shift ranges
for our Cub Scouts - the BB gun and target archery areas are very popular
and busy program areas during summer camp sessions. Action
Archery is also available during summer camp sessions to give Cub Scouts a
different type of archery challenge.

Nature Tree House

Don’t
put your camera away
just yet. This new "Swiss Family Robinson" style multi-deck nature
observatory is just what Scouts need to get a bird’s eye view of the
forest.

Underground Mine - Feel your way
through this dark new facility. Give
your Cub Scouts
a taste of what it was like to be in a mine. The program will provide
lots of opportunities for fun and program.

Physical Fitness Trail
- A Cub Scout-sized course that will challenge younger boys with
opportunities to test their strength, balance and agility.

Cub Pavilion -
The
new large Cub Pavilion is a great multiple use facility for an unlimited
number of Cub activities. The pavilion has lighting with lots of seating
and storage.

Cub Activity
Field -
A
new, level grassy activity area has been created at Cub World for Cub Scouts to
get involved in group and camp-wide games.

Huck Finn Raft
at Memory Lake - While not located within the Cub World borders, this
program feature was developed to provide additional fun for Cub Scout
campers. Cub Scouts can imagine rafting down the mighty Mississippi
River with their best friend Tom Sawyer.
