[tuckahoe/tuckahoe montage(a).htm] Construction In High Gear With One Month To Go
With just one month to go until Tuckahoe opens for summer camp in June 2003, the camp is undergoing a wide array of improvements, renovations and new construction that will reshape our council summer camp into one of the finest camping facilities to be found anywhere in the Boy Scouts of America. Despite a brutal snow-filled winter that delayed construction on all facets of the camp, Tuckahoe will be ready to go in time for the 2003 summer camping season. The camp will be rededicated on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 11 AM. More than $4.5 million of new construction and renovations to existing facilities are presently underway at Tuckahoe, including a new air-conditioned dining hall that will seat 500 campers at a time, a 186,000 gallon swimming pool, new showers and restroom facilities, plus a state-of-the art Cub World to provide outstanding summer camp programs designed just for our Cub Scout campers. From this page, you will be able to track the progress of all of the projects underway at camp this off-season. This site will contain many photographs of the projects as they progress. Please note that we are not able to accommodate drop-in visitors or tour groups during the construction period. Construction sites are busy and sometimes unsafe places and that is why the camp is closed during all of this activity. Please do not bring groups to camp to tour the construction and do not "drop by" to see what is happening. If tours are possible in the future, we will publicize their availability here on our site and through the council newsletter. We will also be organizing projects at camp that can be performed by volunteers and Scouts. Those plans will also be announced when they are fully completed. Construction Photo Gallery
