Information for Visitors to the 2007 Wizard Safari

1945 Wizard Safari PatchThe Wizard Safari is open to Scouts of any age, from Tiger Cubs through Venture Scouts.  This event is open to the public, so we encourage parents and families to attend and welcome all visitors.

Please Note

Only participants who pay for the weekend will be able to participate in the Cub Scout, Webelos and Boy Scout program.  Participants will be given a bracelet that shows they have paid for the event.  All other visitors are invited to watch and participate in the special events that will be occurring throughout the weekend.  Don't forget to stay for the Saturday night show starting at 7:30 PM in the campfire circle, followed by an outstanding fireworks display!

Directions to the Safari

Please follow these driving directions to the Wizard Safari.  Signs will be posted along the roads from Route 30 to the Wizard Ranch to assist you in finding your way.  Parking and security personnel will be directing vehicles to the appropriate lots upon arrival to Wizard Ranch.

Special Needs Transport

A handicapped-accessible van with a chair lift will operate a transportation loop for those individuals requiring assistance in getting around the Safari.  The van's operating hours are Friday from 6 to 10 PM and Saturday from 8 AM until 10 PM.

How Do I Find My Son's Unit When I Arrive?

As you check in, maps will be available showing all the units' campsite locations.  During the day, however, the campsite may not be occupied or your son's unit may be attending camp events, therefore, we encourage parents and unit leaders to exchange cell phone numbers ahead of time so that parents can contact unit leaders when they arrive at the Safari and find out where their son's unit is at that moment.  Due to the "open" schedule format for the event, Safari staff will not be able to direct you to your son's group.

Cub Scout Day Participants

If a Cub Scout is arriving later in the day and will participate in activities at the Safari with his home pack, parents are encouraged to exchange cell phone numbers with pack leaders so you can find out where your son's pack is when you arrive at Wizard Ranch.  If your son is not participating with his home pack, you will be directed where you should go to start program participation.  Cub Scout day visitors participating without a pack, will be combined with other day visitors at the Cub Program tent, located next to the Cub Area gateway, to form a group.  Some activities cannot be accomplished by a lone individual.
