Blogs
(short for weblogs) are everywhere on the Internet these days. The thinking
behind adding blogs to the council website, written by staff members, is that blogging is a
complimentary communications pathway to keep leaders, Scouting
parents and the community-at-large better informed.
One of the advantages that blogging provides is that staff members will be able to post information to their blog quite easily, all by themselves without the involvement of a webmaster or another person who then updates or creates a new web page. Even though blogging is easy to do, it is also quite powerful. Blog authors can easily include links to other on-line materials, pictures and other content without extensive knowledge on how to build web pages.
Below are links to each of the blogs currently available on the York-Adams Area Council's website.
Each one of the blogs listed above is also available via RSS subscription. If you subscribe to a blog's RSS feed, you will automatically be notified each time a new post is made in that blog. It's a great way to keep up-to-date. For example, if inclement weather causes the cancellation of a district's monthly roundtable meetings, the district executive can post that information through their blog and RSS feed subscribers will automatically get the word without having to visit the council's website to check for any new content.
You can obtain the URL needed to subscribe to any of these blogs by clicking the RSS feed link in the page sidebar. Also, more information about how to subscribe to RSS feeds and a complete list of all RSS feeds from the council website is available on the RSS feeds page.
