Camping at Gettysburg National Military Park

Tent Camping Clip ArtTent camping is available only at the McMillan's Woods area of the park and reservations can only be made through the park service.  Camping is free with sites being assigned through an annual lottery.  There is a great deal of competition for the available space at McMillan's Woods, so groups are strongly encouraged to develop back-up plans for accommodations in case they are not able to get a campsite in the park.

Out-of-town troops traveling to Gettysburg regularly stay in cabins at Camp Tuckahoe (located about 26.4 miles north of Gettysburg, but an easy 35-minute drive on Rt. 15).  In addition, we can frequently accommodate groups at Camp Conewago, located in New Oxford, PA (about 16.7 miles or 30 minutes from Gettysburg).

For detailed information regarding the reservation procedures and site availability at McMillan's Wood, please visit the campgrounds section at the Gettysburg National Military Park's website.

Groups camping at McMillan's Woods can arrange for showers at the YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County (909 Fairfield Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325) for a nominal fee of $2 per person.  Groups need to call the YWCA at least one day in advance to make arrangements (717) 334-9171.

Additional information about Gettysburg National Military Park is also available through the U.S. National Park Service at http://www.nps.gov/gett.

A terrific map of the battlefield and the town of Gettysburg is available on the National Park Service's web site.  It will help you get an idea of how things are laid out in and around the battlefield.
