William H. Simpson - Honoree

Bill Simpson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff Co., where he has been employed since 1971.  Susquehanna Pfaltzgraff Co. has five business units which include radio stations, cable television systems, ceramic dinnerware manufacturing and marketing, real estate development and management and web design services.


Mr. Simpson graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1963 and served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1971.  He earned a graduate degree from the Harvard University Law School in 1966 (attended Harvard on a leave of absence during school year).   Mr. Simpson has been married to his wife, Judy, for 37 years, and they have three grown children.


A member of the Board of Advisors for the Fenton Art Glass Co. (Williamstown, WV), Mr. Simpson is also a member of the Board of Directors for Tighe Industries (York, PA).


A former Executive Board member and President of the York-Adams Area Council, BSA, Mr. Simpson's is presently involved with an extensive number of community and not-for-profit organizations, including:

  • Cultural Alliance of York County – Member of Board of Directors (Past Chairperson)

  • Pennsylvania Business Roundtable – Executive Committee Member

  • Pennsylvania Chamber of Business & Industry– Executive Committee Member

  • Pennsylvania Economy League – Board Member (Past Chairperson)

  • United Way of York County de Tocqueville Society – Co-Chairperson (Past United Way Campaign Chair)

  • USAF Academy Association of Graduates – Sabre Society Member

  • William F. Goodling Regional Advanced Skills Learning Center – Board Member

  • York College of Pennsylvania – Trustee

  • York County Alliance for Learning – Executive Committee Member

Mr. Simpson's previous not-for-profit organizations include:

  • Manufacturers’ Association of South Central Pennsylvania – Board Member and Chairperson

  • Martin Library Association – Board Member, Chairperson, and Capital Fund Drive Co-Chair

The York-Adams Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and Fox43 Charities - a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, are pleased to honor William H. Simpson as the 2005 Distinguished Citizen.
