Council Service Center and Scout Shop

York-Adams Area Council is one of more than 300 local councils throughout the United States with the responsibility of promoting and supporting Scouting programs throughout York and Adams Counties in south-central Pennsylvania.  

The Council Service Center is located in West York and was dedicated October 26, 1996 and houses the council's professional and administrative staff, as well as meeting facilities and a well-stocked Scout Shop which carries the full line of BSA supply merchandise, uniforms, literature and recognitions.  Catalog and custom-design orders are also available through the Scout Shop.  Credit card orders are accepted over the telephone and can be shipped directly to customers (additional shipping charges do apply)

The York-Adams Area Council Service Center Scout Shop is open daily from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.  The Scout Shop is also open Wednesday evenings until 8:30 P.M., and from 8:30 A.M. until 12 Noon on Saturday mornings. 

Scout Shop staff members also process camp reservations, accept membership and unit re-chartering paperwork, and other financial transactions with the council.

Directions to Council Service Center

From Baltimore and Southern York County

Travel north on Interstate 83 to Exit 21B - Route 30 (Arsenal Road).  Proceed traveling west on Rt. 30, approximately 2 1/2 miles to the Rt. 74 (West York) exit.  At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on to Rt. 74 heading south.  Go to the 2nd stop light and turn right onto White St. (Commerce Center).  Continue for 1/2 mile (past a strip mall on the right) to the Council Service Center on the right.  The building is stone and wood and sits directly across the street from the Big Lots store.

From Harrisburg and Northern York County

Travel south on Interstate 83 to Exit 22.  Follow signs to Route 30 west (Arsenal Road).  Proceed traveling west on Rt. 30, approximately 2 1/2 miles to the Rt. 74 (West York) exit.  At the end of the exit ramp, turn left on to Rt. 74 heading south.  Go to the 2nd stop light and turn right onto White St. (Commerce Center).  Continue for 1/2 mile (past a strip mall on the right) to the Council Service Center on the right.  The building is stone and wood and sits directly across the street from the Big Lots store.

From Gettysburg and West

Travel to York and connect with Rt. 30.  Travel west on Rt. 30 to Rt. 74 (West York) exit.  At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Rt. 74 heading south.  Turn right at the next stop light onto White St. (Commerce Center).  Continue for 1/2 mile (past a strip mall on the right) to the Council Service Center on the right.  The building is stone and wood and sits directly across the street from the Big Lots store.

Districts

York-Adams Area Council is presently divided into three districts:

• First Capital - serving York City and the northern sections of York county.

• Blue & Grey - serving the Hanover and Gettysburg areas.

• Indian Steps - serving the southern sections of York County.

The York-Adams Area Council is presently conducting an Urban Emphasis program within the City of York to bring Scouting to at-risk youth residing in the city.  The program reaches out to young people throughout the city with traditional unit programs, as well as special after-school programs for elementary-grade boys.
